We are a private powerlifting training facility, operated by Nick Surdis, a Westside Barbell Certified Personal Trainer.
We have a Monolift (only one in SE Mass), Westside Barbell Reverse Hyper, GHR, deadlift platform, specialty bars, sled, dumbbells, competition bench/power rack, chains, bands, Texas deadlift bar, Texas power bar, Iron wolfe Squat bar.
We are more a powerlifting "club" than actually a fitness center. In other words, people that train with us here are training for the benefit of getting stronger as a primary goal on top quality equipment in a focused atmosphere.
People who are looking for a social atmosphere wouldn't really enjoy themselves here haha. Don't get me wrong, we have a lot of fun, and enjoy ourselves while training, but some people like going to commercial gyms to meet people and socialize.. our group isn't really big enough for that. :)
We have about 5-8 people who train with us rotationally - some on a regular basis, some on an occasional basis.
Our training is based upon the three main powerlifting lifts - Squat, Bench, Deadlift. It doesn't matter to us if you've been training for a week, or 5 years, our only goals are to help everyone get stronger safely.
We can have someone squatting 700 pounds, right after someone who is struggling to squat 225. That doesn't matter. Again, we are all working to help each other get better, and we realize that everyone is at a different stage of their training, and the only person you are competing with is yourself.
That being said, there are a lot of benefits to training with an experienced group, as we can help each other to not make the mistakes we have all made, and work on improving form. Form is the key to lifting heavily safely for a long period of time. Additionally - Safety is top priority with us - so by training in a focused group, only one person lifts at a time, while everyone else coaches or spots to make sure the training goes safely.
Again, some of our lifters come every session, some come once a week, some just come a couple of times a month to supplement or change up what they are doing in the nearby commercial gym. That works for some people who need a bit more flexibility in their training - but also want to get with an experienced team a few times a month to make sure their training is on track, and form is good.
